IN THE NINTH ISSUE OF STRINE WHINE:

CATALOGUING THE SPIRIT: GOLDEN PLAINS: Another Golden Plains is behind us. Here’s a glimpse from the other side of the barrier.

Reviews of releases from KTown, Bent, Mere Women, Tyrannamen, Lalic, Reclusive Billionaire, Snake & Friends, Curse ov Dialect, Urthboy, Milwaukee Banks, Stina Tester & Cinta Masters, and A.B.Original.

THE STORY OF A BOY WHO THOUGHT HE WAS A FISH: Over the past five years, The Smith Street Band have gone from Fitzroy’s favourite sons to Footscray-dwelling world-touring icons in a community of their own making. These days they can find a home in nearly any city they visit - a testament to the kinda devotion they inspire even in smaller circles - but in their hometown, they’re celebrities of a kind. For frontman Wil Wagner, this presents a problem: how can a band whose appeal was largely defined by their accessibility keep it up, when thousands of people want to shake their hands?

New issues out every month. Email tracks, records, gigs, praise, hateful epistles and anything else to jakecleland@gmail.com.
